Prattville

Prattville, Alabama
Welcome
Welcome to The City of Prattville, Alabama, a charming New England-style village nestled cozily in the heart of the Deep South. As the “birthplace of industry” in Alabama, Prattville’s rich history spans the life and accomplishments of its founder Daniel Pratt, the great industrialist.
Preserved in Time and Growing with the Future
Prattville features the Daniel Pratt Historic District, listed in the National Register of Historic Places, where some of the sites date back to the Civil War era. Today, Prattville is the seat of government in Autauga County, founded in 1818, thus making it “a county older than the state.”

Official Seal of Prattville
Prattville was once known as “The Fountain City” due to the numerous natural fresh water fountains that were once located throughout the interior and surrounding areas. Most of these fresh water sources are no longer available having been capped or due to malfunctions when attempting to relocate. But, a few still exist today and readily provide fresh and tasty drinking water to residents and thirsty visitors.
